Philadelphia Eagles hosted the football teams and coaches from Roxborough High School, Northeast High School, and Boys Latin High School
Yesterday the Philadelphia Eagles hosted the football teams and coaches from Roxborough High School, Northeast High School, and Boys Latin High School for an afternoon none of us will soon forget.
In conjunction with PCA, the Positive Coaching Alliance, our players engaged in a workshop entitled, “Making Teammates Better- Playing with Empathy”. Players were seated at tables with players from each of the other schools. Each table elected a team captain who reported out to the entire room. Activities such as role playing, reflecting, and connections to life were conducted. Kazir Dyson was, of course, a team captain who dazzled in the role! Eagles players joined the tables and engaged in dialog with the guys.
Heavy topics such as tragedy, disappointment, regret, resiliency, and gun violence were tackled. A Q&A session included the pro players’ reflections on what advice they would give to their younger self, who they turn to when they are faced with struggles, asking for help, favorite foods, and their individual gameday routines.
Offensive tackle Jordan Mailata, linebackers Shaun Bradley (from Temple), TJ Edwards, and rookie linebacker Nakobe Dean spent over 90 minutes with the teams. They engaged effortlessly with the boys. It was so good to see our baby boys wide-eyed, excited, and simply be kids.
The Eagles posted an IG Reel. View it HERE. I’ve also attached a few pics. We offer sincere thanks to everyone that made this day possible. We are grateful for all of the arms that continue to be collectively wrapped around our school community.
