Dear Roxborough School Families,
Over the weekend, we became aware of a concerning photo of one of our students circulating on social media. In the image, the student could be seen with a weapon and, after an investigation, it was determined that this is an old photo that has resurfaced and the weapon in the photo is a toy. We have been in communication with both the student’s family and the Office of School Safety, and have determined that there is no imminent threat to our school community.

The School District of Philadelphia prioritizes the safety of our students and staff and recognizes that we all play a role in keeping each other safe. Please remind your children about the importance of responsibly using social media and the implications of sharing unconfirmed or misinformation on these platforms. If a student sees something that they feel is concerning on or offline, we encourage them to share their concerns with an adult who can help to either elevate the concern or dispel what could potentially be misinformation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us by calling the main office at (215) 400-3400.

Thank you for your continued support of the students and staff at Roxborough.

Sincerely,
Kristin Williams-Smalley, Julian Saavedra, Kate Mullen and Megan McCarthy-May Administration
