Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge Finalists

On Wednesday, NFTE hosted the regional round for its annual Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge. Earlier this spring, more than 500 students from nearly 40 Philadelphia-area schools presented their business plans to outside judges at their local schools. 30 of these student competitors qualified for yesterday’s regional round.

Roxborough sent 7 students to this round of 30. The goal of yesterday’s regional round: reduce this group of 30 qualifiers to 3 regional finalists. When the dust settled, 2 Roxborough students were still standing: Samuel Johnson (InQuest) and Daeshawn Crippen (New Compass).

Sam and Daeshawn have earned places as two of the three local students who will compete in the Philadelphia Metro Youth Entrepreneurship Finals at the Down Town Club from 6 to 9 PM on May 16. The winner will receive a check for $1,500 (with $1,000 and $500 going to the second and third place finishers). Regardless of what happens next, both students are big winners.
