Being able to explore various opportunities through the biotechnology program is what drew Matthew Law’s interest in attending The Academies at Roxborough High School in 2015. Now a senior, Law is one step closer of his goal of having a career in the medical field…

The Academies at Roxborough High School, which is located at 6498 Ridge Ave., is the first high school in Philadelphia to implement the all-academy high school model. Law is a part of the The Academy of Health Sciences and Research. The pathway he chose was biotechnology.

Law said that his experience at Roxborough has helped him prepare for college….

“Roxborough has really helped me find out what my interests are even more,” Law said. “I would like to be a physician. I know that the biotechnology pathway has definitely helped me prepare for that. I did a lot of hands-on work in that program and I know I will have classes in college that will have me being hands-on as well.

“The program has helped me get ready for real work,” he added. “Once I graduate from Roxborough, I plan on doing a five-year program at Bryn Athyn College. I know I’ll be ready for that next step because of my experience at Roxborough.”
