Academy @ Roxborough Juniors visited Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) to gain hands on experience in the Biomedical Equipment Technology Labs.  Students are pictured working on pulse oximeters that measure a patients oxygen saturation in their blood.  The BMET program at CCP prepares student to enter the medical field as a certified technician to test, maintain and repair medical equipment, solve basic circuit problems involving DC and AC circuits and explain the structure and function of major organ systems in the human body, such as the cardio-vascular, nervous, endocrine, and renal systems.  “Students will learn basic theory of operation, function and clinical application of a range of medical devices, such as infusion pumps, heart monitors, blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, suction devices, and centrifuges and how to test these devices for proper operation.” (CCP BMET Program)
