Computer Distribution
School District of Philadelphia Families,
We are excited to launch the Chromebook Loaner Program to ensure that all District students have access to online materials while schools are closed due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. If your child does not have access to a device at home for learning, one can be provided through this program. There is no cost for this program and no obligation to participate. All devices must be returned once school reopens. If you are fortunate and have appropriate computer and internet access at home for your child, we ask that you please reserve the program for those who do not.
Roxborough HS technology device distribution program being hosted Tuesday, April 14th and Wednesday April 15th, will be a “walk-up” / “drive-up” service for parents/guardians.
Maintaining the safety and well-being of our staff, students and families is a top priority. Please follow the instructions below to help maintain a safe environment while the devices are distributed:
· In order to minimize the number of people on site, we ask that only the parent or legal guardian come to pick up the Chromebook. Children are advised, if possible, to stay at home.
· Bring a form of photo ID to verify that you are the parent or legal guardian (government-issued ID, student ID, Work ID).
· If the parent/guardian is feeling sick, we ask that you stay home and send a healthy representative with your ID to your child’s school to pick up the device.
· To help the process go quickly, please keep conversation with staff to a minimum.
Digital Device “Drive-Up” and “Walk-Up” Distribution – Tuesday, April 14th & Wednesday, April 15th – 9am-1pm both days.
Rain date: Friday, April17th – 9am to 12:00pm
“DRIVE-UP” – Vehicles will enter through the loop entrance on Ridge Avenue and drive down to the Delivery Entrance. Please remain in the car at all times and follow the following steps:
1. When you arrive at the entrance, someone will greet you and ask the driver (parent/guardian) to show photo ID and names of students who are enrolled in the school.
2. Upon verification, the parent/guardian will be asked to sign the loaner agreement. (You can see a copy below. Please read it before coming to pick up the device). The greeter will give you a pen, which you can keep, and an agreement to sign. The parent/guardian will sign the agreement.
3. The greeter will bring a bin to the vehicle and ask that you (parent/guardian) drop the signed agreement into the bin.
4. A volunteer wearing protective gloves and mask will hand the device and charger through the passenger-side window. Each device has been disinfected. However, you are advised to additionally disinfect the device [using a wipe] before using it. A printed copy of instructions about how to log on will come with the device and those same instructions will be found on our website beginning on Tuesday April 14th 2019.
5. After you receive the device, you may drive off.
“WALK-UP” – Please have your ID ready and bring a book-bag to carry the Chromebook(s) home.
1. Please line up 6 feet apart from each other along the Pathway that runs parallel with the front doors of the school’s main entrance on Ridge & Fountain Streets.
2. The first left door will be “check-in/verification” and right doors will be form completion and computer/charger hand-off.
3. A School Police Officer will greet you when you reach the front of the line and direct you to the main entrance area where you will provide the greeter with your ID and student name card (to be placed in the basket).
4. Once parent/guardian verification is complete, you will move to the next set of doors (on our right) where there will be a greeter at a table with the loaner agreement(s) in a bin. You should sign one form for each of your children.
5. A greeter wearing protective gloves/mask will come out to the table and ask you to place the signed form(s) in a box and hand you the Chromebook(s).
6. Once you have the Chromebook(s), you can return home. A printed copy of instructions about how to log on will come with the device and those same instructions will be found on our website beginning on Tuesday April 14th 2019.
Once again, as a reminder, this is a loaner program to ensure that students who do not have a computer at home for learning will have access to one while schools are closed. There is no cost for this program and no obligation to participate. All devices must be returned at the conclusion of the school closure period.
Sincerely, Dana Jenkins, Principal
